South Orange Board Of Adjustment resolution
The Board of Adjustment in South Orange passed a resolution recently in opposition to senate bill S-1534 and assembly bill A-2586. We have made this resolution available on this website; please read the full text.
In this resolution, the Zoning Board explains it strong opposition to the proposed legislation, and that the bills would create a new class of privileged developers whose interests are different from the public, even though universities already have significant leeway and reduced burdens of proof without this new legislation.
The Board also points out that the risks extend to other municipalities without private colleges, and that it would encourage additional non-profit entities to seek the same exemptions.
