NJSLOM and Sierra Club opposition
The swell of opposition against a dangerous land (S1534/A2586) use bill that would exempt private colleges from land use oversight is steadily growing:
- The NJ State League of Municipalities (NJSLOM) has published another letter to mayors of towns in NJ that explains that A2586 has an impact well beyond the 14 towns that have private colleges:
“a very dangerous precedent could be established, allowing other non-profit institutions who similarly serve a “public mission” to argue that they should also be exempt from local zoning control. The logical extension of this could impact every community in this State“. (http://www.njslom.org/letters/2012-1017-A-2586-S-1534.html) - The Sierra Club of NJ has issued a strong statement in opposition to A2586. (http://newjersey.sierraclub.org/PressReleases/0398.asp)
