what is this about? We oppose NJ bill A2586.
Why? Because it would allow colleges to bypass all local zoning laws and review processes.
What could that lead to? Colleges would be encouraged to purchase additional homes in any town and use them for any purpose they see fit. They could build multi-story dorms, parking lots, offices for instance. Without having to adhere to local zoning ordinances.
But I don’t live in a college town. That doesn’t mean colleges can’t purchase properties in your town for whatever reason. Maybe even start a new campus.
What can I do? sign the APA petition, talk to your neighbors, email your friends, contact assembly people, follow news on our facebook group or ComColCoa.org
