Dear Assemblyman/Assemblywoman [last name]:

I am a concerned citizen and a voter in the state of New Jersey. I am writing to express my grave concerns about Assembly Bill A2586. If enacted, I believe this bill will potentially have a devastating impact on this state. It thwarts the rights of municipalities to self govern and it diminishes the preservation of vital communities.

Affording private schools the same benefits as public schools ignores the checks and balances that exist with public institutions but are missing from private ones. The receipt of public funds includes the responsibility to use them for the public good. That requirement does not exist on private funding.

For most of us, our homes are our largest single investment. Transparent zoning oversight protects the character of our neighborhoods, allows communities to plan for their future by engaging local residents, and maintains the value of New Jersey homes. This preservation is even more critical today.

Please talk with your colleagues and encourage them to Vote NO on A2586. The citizens of New Jersey are counting on you!

Thank you,
